MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT

Los Angeles Carnival is a membership organization.  Everyone who signs up to participate in the carnival is automatically added to its membership roster, unless they opt out at the time of registration.

CARNIVAL-A-THON!

Through its ‘Carnival-a-thon’ structure (similar to a Walk-a-thon) participants enroll and receive membership credentials to be part of the carnival.   Each band leader, band member, masquerader or other participant in the parade must register individually online with the carnival organization and is issued a unique registration number.  The Carnival Band Leader records the number with the Carnival Office when the registered participant joins his/her band.  Neither the Band Leader nor masquerader has any further financial obligation to the carnival office.  Any additional expense is between the masquerader and the Band Leader.  All registrations will be verified prior to event start.

Band Leader/Captain

Band Leaders - $100.00. You choose a theme, create costumes and recruit people to buy your costumes and  to play in your carnival. Band Leaders have ongoing support and consultation from the carnival office.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) Band Leaders - $75.00. Nonprofit organizations may register with their Federal Tax ID and name an officer of the organization as the contact person or Band Leader.

Masquerader / Reveler / Group or Band Member:

Masquerader/Reveler or Members of a Band - 15.00. You register online with L.A. Carnival and receive your unique I.D. number. You then find a group or carnival band to play with. You purchase a costume from that Band Leader to be part of their band and play with them in the carnival. Costume and any other costs are arranged between you and your Band Leader/Captain. 

Adults playing in a band or as part of the Global Village Masqueraders - $20.00. You register online with L.A. Carnival and receive your unique I.D. /Membership Credential.
Students and Seniors with ID - $10.00. You register online with L.A. Carnival and receive your unique I.D. /Membership Credential.
Children under 10 - Free. Parents register online with L.A. Carnival and receive your unique I.D. /Membership Credential.

Independent Producers

Independent producers are encouraged to produce events in collaboration with LA Carnival. Each event will be included as part of the Carnival experience and marketed as part of the overall LA Carnival event.

Volunteer/At-large Members

Volunteers are needed to assist in many areas of the event. Only current members can hold assigned volunteer positions. Volunteers receive a certificate of participation. Students can arrange community service credit, and each volunteer receives a valuable ‘Thank you’ package.

Volunteer positions include:

  • Parade Marshals and Captains

  • Production and Event Assistants

  • Event Day Chaperones and Assistants

  • Costume Makers and Dressers

  • Outreach / Promotion / Social Media Assistants

  • Technical/Social Media Assistants

  • Revelers, Masqueraders, Performers and Artists
